Make The Right Connection through engaging presentations, conversations, live demonstrations of cutting-edge technology, and networking opportunities held in inspirational venues. Planning is underway for CENIC’s annual conference to be held March 4–7, 2018, at the Hyatt Regency in Monterey, California. The conference brings together CENIC’s richly diverse community, with participants from all education segments; public and private research universities; public libraries; scientific, cultural, and performing arts institutions; private sector technology businesses; public policy and government; and R&E partners from across the country and around the world.

California attendees will be joined by colleagues from around the U.S. and international colleagues, all of whom are leaders and visionaries in research and education. Attendees will hear from noted experts about innovative uses of the CENIC network to support vibrant and diverse California research and education communities; state-of-the-art and future network technologies; wireless technologies and extending the CENIC footprint; innovation in networks and applications from our partners in the R&E community, government, healthcare, and the private sector; new strategies to ensure all California communities have access to high-speed broadband; cybersecurity and privacy; broadband public policy; and new global collaborations supported by an interconnected world. In addition, a special workshop on regional research platforms building on the Pacific Research Platform will be held in conjunction with the conference.

Attendees will share insights and opinions during the conference program, as well as in informal networking settings. In addition, we will honor and celebrate the ingenuity of the founders and innovators of the CENIC community during the 2018 Innovations in Networking Awards.

The Hyatt Regency Monterey is nestled in 22 acres of soaring Monterey Pines, and across from the Naval Postgraduate School. It is conveniently located near downtown Monterey and some of the Peninsula’s most well-known attractions. Our attendees will enjoy a special rate of $179 per night, complimentary parking (self and valet), and complimentary standard Wi-Fi in guestrooms.

The conference website will be launched in late October, and conference registration opens mid-November. New this year: CENIC is going mobile! Attendees can access the conference program, set networking meetings with colleagues, and receive instant notifications on evening events or last-minute changes through our mobile app. The app will be available on February 1, 2018.
