Each term at Kern Community College District, the Office of Institutional Research provides an Excel data file to the college vice presidents with information that projects the FTES the class schedule will generate. The process is fairly simple and could be replicated by other colleges and districts. This is a district-wide tool that has been used by two of the District’s three colleges for most terms over the past five years or so. The third college will now be using it, starting with the summer/fall 2018 terms. Effective scheduling and planning is central to our mission of student success. Forecasting FTES accurately improves our ability to plan.
